Little ones of RASYN

Forming Scripture Unions in school and Communities:
Through soccer we have been able to reach to  schools and communities  and formed  Four (4) scripture unions in Tanaga primary school, (80 members, Myeri village (70 members), Irara primary school (20 members) and Katooke modern Secondary school 15 (Members) to teach, equip and empower youths and children with biblical principles of God in the district of Kyenjojo

IMPACT / CHANGE
Children and youths who are part of these clubs have become great preachers, singers, dancers, prayer worriers, they have gone ahead to lead prayers and praise in churches they pray from. The evil characters like stealing, drug use, smoking, fighting etc have reduced in the communities where these clubs are. The rate of crime has reduced and it’s rare to find a youth in a prison now, we thank God

Three (3) conferences where youths and children from different schools, communities and districts came to have lectures and group discussions to share experiences, in line with the topic presented and they came up with their own approaches on how they are going to incorporate the issues raised by the facilitator to abstain from Sex and to control the spread of HIV.

Uniting, rescuing youth and Children from all sorts of evil through Soccer.

IMPACT / CHANGE:
·         Before we play a game we take time and talk to the Children, to hear the problems they go though in their homes, at school, what they are not in school and we try to provide a solution where we can. Through soccer challenges and  problem  that youth go through have been identified and 80 vulnerable children and youth  have been rescued from evil act (Sex and labour exploitation , stealing, gambling, idleness, drugs, smoking , early marriage, alcohol etc ) and 40 have been sent back to school with their school fees, scholastic materials and Basic needs  provided.

Developing the talents of the youths and children through football, netball, dancing, singing, and acting for social impact and provide life skills.

·
Soccer team under 14.
We formed 4 academies of under Two (2) of under 17, One (1) of under 14 and One (1) for the Girl under 16. The boys have played over 20 games without losing any match, the boys have competed in big matches and won 5 trophies, they have travelled to districts to compete with other schools and soccer academies and they have won the matches. Football has made our stubborn boys to calm down because rules punish them if they misbehave in the community and homes, they miss big matches so they have changed, they support their parents at home, they don’t move to places without asking for permission from Guardians and this is the way soccer has instilled morals to once un approachable children and youth.  .

ABOUT ONE LOVE AND THE CHALLANGES

We have 2 soccer teams for the boys of (under 14, under 17 (2 teams) and a team for the girls.  Many village boys love football and they play football anytime, many who play football come with many problems and according to our mission we provide soccer skills for fitness, social impact, fitness, physical impact, and health and girls empowerment.

Soccer teams located in the village of Kyenjojo District Western Uganda which badly need soccer materials especially boots, jerseys and balls. On the date of 30th January 2016 my under 14 team got a chance to participate in a tournament in one town of Fort-Portal and out of the 15 teams that participated it was only my team that had no soccer boots,  had only one pair of jersey used for 5 games (The jersey is shared by the three teams) , have  only one ball for 3 teams , we lost two games and drew 2 games  because  our  boys feared to get hurt by the opponents that had shoes . We ask for  help to  get soccer materials.

ANY DONATION IS APPRECIATED

What’s old becomes new. Consider the used soccer ball in your garage or last years jerseys collecting dust in storage. Our kids outgrow cleats that are still in great condition. Donate them and give another child opportunity to play. Does your soccer club or school order new jerseys each season or every few years? Collect the team sets and help support  our team. Thanks

TARGETED GROUPS AND WHY?

1.
Ages from 7-20 (in and out of school, both girls and boys of any religion and with any disability)

Why the age Group? According to the health ministry’s HIV/AIDS report of 2011 showed that children are exposed to sex very early. About 71% of teenagers have risky sex, yet, according to the report, less than half use condoms.
The earlier 2006 Uganda demographic and Health Survey (UDHS), put the teenage pregnancy rate at 25%. Data from the education ministry shows that dropouts are highest among girls than boys due to early pregnancies. http://www.newvision.co.ug/news/637176-upe-staggering-71-drop-out-rate-so-far.html

In my community the biggest social problems facing youths and Children include Early sex which has resulted, early pregnancies, high spread of HIV/AID, High death rates due to pregnancy complication of young girls, high rate of child neglect and high rate of school drop outs.

Just like in any other region of the Uganda, girls and boys from disadvantaged communities like ours face complex problems. They often come from difficult social backgrounds with many families living below the poverty threshold. Due to poor education, many youths lack skills making it difficult for them to find employment. They are exposed to health risks, alcoholism and drugs. Girls and young women especially face violence and crime, more than a few are discriminated and excluded from social life.
